Principal
Indigo Program

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!

After 20 years of teaching in private, public and charter schools, I am excited to return to OGSD as Principal of Indigo.

Indigo is a school of choice founded on a constructivist teaching, parent participation, and positive discipline approach to learning. In my fourteen years at Indigo, I enthusiastically implemented our vision, mission and philosophy in the classroom and across the campus.

With my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction, with an equity focus, I see the value of students being active participants in the learning process. Students are engaged with curiosity, inquiry, discovery, and making connections. They collaborate, communicate and reflect with our standards based curriculum.

I collaborated extensively with parents and truly enjoy bringing in the strengths of this important part of our school community. Our parents share interests, talents, and time to add to a rich educational experience.

Our positive discipline approach helps students feel safe and nurtured as they learn, grow and achieve. Having served as a Positive School Culture mentor, I appreciate how students work on solutions with mutual respect, empathy, cooperation, and gain life skills that go beyond the classroom.

Indigo is a special place where students, teachers and families work together to make education a community passion. As we come up on our 20th anniversary, we can celebrate our wonderful community and the great work we have done together! From this strong foundation, we can also continue growing, taking on new challenges, as we prepare our students to make a positive impact in today’s world.

I am honored to be back in a new role and I look forward to an amazing 2024-2025 school year!

Sincerely,
Nasreen Husain
